Hey Rama,

I realised tonight, probably whilst emptying my bladder of a large quantity of Californian Chardonnay, that there is a form of portraiture which hasn't yet been covered by your site.

Let's call it 'The Portrait Slam' (as in a Poetry Slam) where two individuals take turns at (fondly) demeaning each other through satirical gags of a visual nature.

This can be seen in the follow back-and-forth between myself and Cuffe on IFN.

First the Cuffester does his en-garde move by portraying me in my naff PJs (http://illustrationfridaynight.blogspot.com/2007/01/truth.html)

I counter with him pleasuring a crocodile (http://illustrationfridaynight.blogspot.com/2007/01/steve-irwin-cuffe-discovers-that-there.html)

He then gives me the voodoo treatment (http://illustrationfridaynight.blogspot.com/2007/01/sorry-steve.html)

And I tell him where to put it: (http://illustrationfridaynight.blogspot.com/2007/01/forget-cartooning-cuffe-gives-naked.html)

To be honest, most of the ladeez on the site are quite happy to give Cuffe his cuffeupance (http://illustrationfridaynight.blogspot.com/2007/04/cuffe-gets-his.html)

And perhaps realising he's ultimately doomed (though aren't we all) Cuffe commits illustration-hari-kiri on himself (http://illustrationfridaynight.blogspot.com/2007/02/cuffe-and-devil.html)

BTW. I know you're mainly a portraitist, but we'd love it if you could spread a bit of Rama sometime on our IFN-toast.

Regards

Steve

Hello dear Mr Rama

Got another prozacville portrait party thang going on here. Bite your own tail did a pic of me here (http://biteyourowntail.blogspot.com/2007/07/sea-sea-and-some-other-things-too.html) and I responded by having her come as her chosen pill-avatar to live in prozacville forever (http://prozacville.blogspot.com/2007/07/maybe-i-am-gay-originally-uploaded-by.html).

It's always good to have my nuts as close to me as possible.

Do you think you could also update your sidebar link to my latest blog (prozacville.blogspot.com). Ta. I'm linking you to pville tonight as well.

If more people got together to re-present each other and drink tea and eat biscuits and share and laugh, there would be a little less depression and loneliness in this world, I think you'd agree.

Hugs

Hi Rama,

I didn't do either of these, but they're of two of my greatest friends.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts and Tony Fader drew these pictures of each other on napkins, and I saved them. I thought this might be a nice venue for the images, and I took it upon myself to submit them because they would never do this themselves. Anyway, I think they captured each other pretty accurately... For better or worse!

I actually didn´t want to join the contest as December has been pretty busy and most of our family sick too. But then the past few days I suddenly had time for doing 8 portraits of the list. (But without all the siblings and the enemy I could only complete 4 requirements of the list.)

a parent (my mother), a child (my daughter), a sibling (my sister, my brother, my second brother),
a significant other (my husband), an enemy (selfportrait;))

All the portraits are posted on my blog, because non of my family (except for my husband) has a blog.

Hiya. I don't know if you received our details on 29th March, so here they are again (my cousin Amy is very excited about joining in with this & she'd make my life hell if I didn't post the links correctly.

Here are our entries, both on my blog here http://arokerartist.blogspot.com/2008/03/portrait-party-entry.html We decided to both work on the same pastel paper, using black and white ink pens, and 2 tones of grey brush pen. This way we worked using similar techniques, so that our drawing styles would show through when you compare the two portraits.

Thanks, and we'll be sure to do this again. Great idea. Steph (Yellow - A Roker Artist) and Amy (Refound inner Art self at http://amzyart.blogspot.com/)

Hi Rama,
I just finished teaching a "Drawing for Illustration" class at Madison Area Technical College (Madison, WI). Part of the "figure" portion of the class was devoted to "You Draw Me and I Draw You," after I saw the article about you in "The Artist's Magazine." So...we paired up, took photos of each other in class (Adam hammed it up especially nice as you can see), and did each other's portraits for homework. Here's 2 pairs of results (another pair coming later), links copied below. Thanks for the super fun project!

Hi Rama.
I made this post over at the flickr group but wanted to share here in case you aren't checking both. There is some interest in doing a large scale international portrait party using the japanese fold moleskines. Some folks like "black vampire" and myself are members of both groups

www.flickr.com/groups/moly_x/

Would anyone like to do a special edition Portrait Party Moleskine Exchange? I was thinking each person starts with a Japanese Fold Moleskine, draws themself on first page, maybe includes 2-3 photos in the pocket. Each artist then draws your picture in your book and a self portrait to go with it.

It seemed like a neat pairing of ideas and of course I will bow out of the organizational aspect if either Rama or Marty (moly x admin) would prefer to take the reigns.

Here you have a portrait of one of my daughters, LucĂa ,who is a difficult model to portray because she is always running all over the place and she hardly ever sits down. I took advantage of a moment she was having a rest after a stressful afternoon and I drew this portrait you can find in my blog :http://diegojimenezmachado.blogspot.com/
I hope you like it.I will send you one of her drawings of me in a couple of days.
