cindy woods & her mom

Photobucket

i think it's amazing that the happy birthday contest began and ended with actual birthday portrait parties. at cindy's party, she (portrayed above) and her mom (portrayed below) swapped portraits too. a perfect end to the birthday contest in my opinion! thanks to everyone for making it so much fun!

jana bouc & radio rita

Photobucket

jana (portrayed above) also swapped portraits with her iPal, radio rita (portrayed below).

Photobucket

nel jansen & jana bouc

Photobucket

nel (portrayed above) was a great mentor to jana (portrayed below) when she started doing oil paintings. they never met in person, only via blogs and emails.

Photobucket

cindy woods & taylor

Photobucket

cindy (portrayed above) was asked if she told all of her birthday guests to sit with their hands clasped for their portraits. nope! it's just a comfortable pose, she supposed. this one (below) is of her brother-in-law, taylor.

Photobucket

ron & cindy woods

Photobucket

the brothers-in-law also got in on the fun. ron (portrayed above) was praised by cindy for the details that he noticed in his portrait of her (below).

Photobucket

melissa w. & megan ryan

Photobucket

meg (portrayed above) probably wouldn't be drawing today if it wasn't for her art teacher, "mrs. w." melissa has inspired meg since her freshman year. they tackled their portrait party with a caveat, "don't hate me" when they saw each other's pictures.

Photobucket

betsy woods & cindy woods

Photobucket

cindy's other other sister, betsy (portrayed above), also drew cindy (below) for her birthday portrait party.

Photobucket

kathy woods & cindy woods

Photobucket

cindy's other sister, kathy (portrayed above), also jumped in on the birthday portrait party. she drew cindy below.

Photobucket

wendy woods & cindy woods

Photobucket

the budding arteest, wendy (portrayed above), drew her sister, cindy, again (below).

Photobucket

amy & steph

Photobucket

amy (portrayed above) and steph (portrayed below) decided to draw with the same materials so that their drawing styles would show through when we compare their portraits.

Photobucket

evan tyler & cindy woods

Photobucket

evan (portrayed above) was the kind nephew who drew a self-portrait for cindy (portrayed below) when she had to go to the hospital.

Photobucket

cindy woods & ellen

Photobucket

cindy (portrayed above) celebrated her birthday this sunday with a portrait party! these drawings by her and her niece, ellen (portrayed below), are only 2 of 62 drawings that were done!

Photobucket

mr. khashchina & mrs. khashchina

Photobucket

the portrait swap between nina and her mom looked like so much fun to nina's dad (portrayed above) that he decided to join in. his drawing of his wife is below.

Photobucket

nina khashchina & her mom

Photobucket

nina (portrayed above) coaxed her mom (portrayed below) into drawing her for the portrait party. NOW SHE WON'T STOP! i guess we can expect a lot more swaps from the khashcinas soon.

danny gregory & dan price

Photobucket

the d.o.g. strikes again! his portrait of dan p. (above) is great but dan's portrait of danny g. (below) really has my curiosity peaked. is it the cover of a zine, i hope?

Photobucket

sharon & judith

Photobucket

judith painted this picture of sharon (above) without her knowing it. to get even, sharon painted judith (below) while she posed. they've been painting together for years but this is the first time they've painted each other.

Photobucket

by the way, judith or sharon, if you would like to share links to your work or websites, please do!

juj & witness

Photobucket

juj (portrayed above) has never has never participated in a portrait party before. although she agreed to swap portraits with witness (portrayed below), she regretted it immediately. "i'm completely out of my league!" she worried. "what if it's awful? what if he hates it?" as it turns out, she had so much fun doing it that she might just party with us again.

Photobucket

hunter d & steve loya

Photobucket

steve's fifth-graders did a bunch of quick portraits this week. above is a continuous line drawing he did of his student, hunter, and below is the blind contour line portrait of hunter drew of him.

heidi banford & andy diconti

Photobucket

heidi (portrayed above) finally trusts us enough to share her artwork without a copyright banner. THIEVES BEWARE THOUGH: her signature is still branded very prominently onto her portrait of andy (below). thanks, heidi. AND ANDY!

Photobucket

roz stendahl & danny gregory

Photobucket

roz (portrayed above) is danny's (portrayed below) voice of wisdom. i've got me one of those too! they are invaluable.
